The Ritzy Rose is a labor of love for husband and wife team Jen & Jason Diehl. The name is a nod to Jenís maiden name (Rose), and conjures up images of stylish, modern ladies of decades past. The company was born after the Diehl's enchanting, whimsical wedding in 2010. After successfully planning their extravagant nuptials without the help of a planner, and using very few vendors, they set out to offer affordable custom designs and vintage goods to others.
Jennifer is a New Yorker who now calls Ohio home. She graduated from Cornell University in 2002 with a bachelor of science in textile and apparel design (little known fact: she started out as a pre-med student!) Jennifer also studied at London College of Fashion, F.I.T. and Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design. After college, she lived and worked in Manhattan for several years. She designed for Tracy Reese and freelanced for a handful of other designers. Jennifer spent much of this time backstage at NY Fashion Week, creating clothing for the runways twice a year, and traveling to Europe for trend research. She loved every minute of it.
In 2005, an excellent opportunity with Abercrombie & Fitch meant she would relocate to the vibrant, up-and-coming city of Columbus. This job afforded Jennifer even more travel opportunities, bringing her to factories to approve production in Asia and South America.
In 2008, Jennifer joined Limited Brands, where she spent over three years designing for the Bath & Body Works Brand. She loved being a part of the BBW family, and enjoyed the variety of creative projects that she designed, from prints to gift sets and accessories.
After only one year in business, The Ritzy Rose began to take off more than Jen had anticipated, and she decided to leave corporate life so that she could spend all of her time in The Ritzy Rose studio. In August of 2011, Jen took the leap and is now happily self-employed.
Jenís design work has been featured in books, tv, movies and international magazines such as Vogue, In Style, Country Living, Us Weekly, People Country, Cosmo, Marie Claire, Lucky, and several others.
Jason was born and raised in the great buckeye state of Ohio. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 2002 with a bachelors of science in Hospitality Management.
Before taking the leap to work on The Ritzy Rose full time in the beginning of 2011, Jason spent many years in the hotel industry. Jason handles a majority of the companyís billing, inventory, shipping and photography, which allows Jen to devote all of her time to creative projects.
To Jenís knowledge, Jason is the only husband who actually enjoys antiquing with his wife. And, with a previous career as a chef, he is an unbelievable cook! He balances out his penchant for antique-hunting with a healthy love of college sports. Youíll find him donning scarlet & gray on game day.
