Good Tidings & Cheer Holiday Cards

The font sets up something ceremonial. Blackletter script, the kind that belongs on diplomas and old proclamations, opens with "Good tidings & cheer." You expect the card to finish the thought politely. It does not.

That turn is the whole thing. The formality is the setup, and "to hell with this year" is the payoff. The joke only works because the first half earns it. Whoever you send this to will see the fancy lettering, start reading, and hit the last line because someone finally said it out loud, in the fanciest possible lettering.

This is the card for the person you survived the year with. A co-worker. Someone who was in the room when it was rough. They lived the same year you did, and they will understand it immediately.

The holiday card ritual generally asks everyone to perform a cheerfulness that, in a hard year, feels like a small agreement to pretend. This one doesn't ask for that.

Each set comes with 24 folded cards and envelopes, 4 x 5.5 inches, one design per set.

The laugh that follows is what they'll remember.
